For the first time in 12 years, the violence that has been raging in Haiti has forced the closure of our beautiful primary school in Croix-des-bouquets, most of the community having fled to safer areas. Incredibly, the buildings and equipment remain untouched and have not been vandalized or pillaged, which should allow us to quickly resume offering classes as soon as the security situation allows it. For now, we continue with our mission in the North of the country, where many families have relocated and where we are in the process of buying a building which we will initially turn into a kindergarten. Your support is more important than ever in order to allow these children living in such precarious conditions, to find a certain sense of normalcy by offering them a safe and structured educational environment.
Your generosity and the involvement of our volunteers enabled us to raise over $16,000 this year! We used 100% of the donations received to make a first deposit to acquire a building in the city of Cap Haitien, where many families from Port-au-Prince and its surroundings have fled. One of our donors also generously sponsored one of our most gifted students, allowing her to continue her secondary studies.
